E-mail: js.martin@sympatico.ca
School: Our Lady of Sorrows
Grades: JK, SK, Grade 2/3
Location:
Verner, Ontario
Classroom Pets: For the past 2 years, I have had a pet rabbit in my class. Her name is Buffy. She is also my personal pet since I bring her home with me on long weekends and on holidays. This September, I plan on bringing Buffy to school again. She will be assisting me in my new JK class.
Pets at home:
In the past, I have had many different home pets. I was raised on a farm so I was constantly surrounded with animals that were considered my pets. I have had guinea pigs, doves, phesants, rabbits, cows, horses, chickens, dogs, cats, wild geese... I am what you would call an animal freak. I attempted (and succeeded) to tame all above mentioned pets (except the cows and horses which were already tamed). Buffy has been the only pet that I've had in my class.
Other animal projects: I plan on working on a farm unit this year with my JK's. I am not quite sure yet of other themes that I'll be teaching... Still thinking about that!
Animal info. wanted: Any ideas are welcome! As I said, I will definitely be working on a farm unit. Probably a rabbit unit would be very interesting!
