Deer Fern

Type:
It is a fern because it has soft stems, like a flowering plant, but it doesn't have any flowers. Ferns reproduce by spores which can be found on the backs of the leaves.

Quick Tip:
This small fern is the only BC fern that has two very different kinds of leaves.

Special Features:
The fertile fronds of the Deer Fern grow upwards and have very thin leaflets. The non-fertile leaves lay more flat against the ground and have wider leaflets.

Here are the two kinds of leaves, non-fertile (wider) and fertile (thinnner).
