A moth has a thicker body, furry antennae, and it rests with its wings flat.
Moths often come out at night.

A butterfly has a thinner body, antennae with knobs, and it rests with its wings upright.
Butterflies usually fly in the daytime.
We raised our own Painted Lady Butterflies at school and then let them go.

BUTTERFLY

Butterflies and moths both start out as eggs and hatch into caterpillars.
Butterflies usually make a chrysalis and moths usually make a cocoon.
After metamorphosis, the adult comes out!
