There are many common critters that you can learn to identify in a West Coast forest area.

We decided that an easy way to sort out the local critters was to count their legs!

CRITTER KEY

0 Legs Earthworms and snakes have no legs

1 "Foot" Slugs and snails have no legs, but they do have a long "foot"

4 Legs Amphibians and reptiles have 4 legs

6 Legs All insects have 6 legs

8 Legs Spiders have 8 legs, but so do Daddy Long-Legs

Many Legs Critters like pillbugs, millipedes and centipedes have lots of legs.
